The Seven Future Guide Dogs 2018

Seven Future Guide Dogs, Sponsored by Ramada Resort Kooralbyn Valley (a Yong Group property), Have Been Born!

Following last year’s sponsorship by the Yong Foundation—on behalf of Yong Property—of one guide dog’s training, this year the Foundation has once again stepped forward, this time representing Ramada Resort Kooralbyn Valley, to sponsor the training of seven newborn guide dog puppies.

Employees at the resort are thrilled! They enthusiastically participated in an online vote to name the puppies. With this year’s naming theme requiring all names to begin with the letter “V,” seven names—Voucha, Velvet, Viking, Voodoo, Varah, Vegas, and Varsha—were selected from dozens of submissions. We hope these seven cuddly little pups, who now sleep peacefully nestled together, will successfully complete their rigorous two-year training and graduate as fully qualified guide dogs—becoming trusted companions and guardians for people who are blind or vision impaired.

Below is an excerpt from a thank-you letter sent by Rob on behalf of Guide Dogs Queensland:

“Overall, the campaign generated a whopping $42,720—well exceeding our original target of $25,000!
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Yong Foundation for helping us not only meet but surpass our fundraising goal.
I’m delighted to share that Ramada Resort Kooralbyn Valley will soon have a litter to help us name, observe, love, and admire as these puppies embark on their journey to becoming guide dogs.”

“On behalf of the entire team at Guide Dogs Queensland, thank you for becoming a Litter Guardian in our Puppy Pals Program. It gives me great pleasure to inform you that you will be co-supporting an entire litter—the lovable ‘V’ Litter. This litter consists of four beautiful girls and three handsome boys, born on August 26 to mother ‘Nora’ and father ‘Aztec’.

The Yong Foundation sincerely thanks all businesses under the Yong Group and every one of their customers. It is your generous donations that enable the Foundation to grow continuously and support an ever-increasing number of people in need. Our ultimate vision is to create a world—where we live and work—that is meaningfully changed for the better through our collective efforts. A brighter era of philanthropy depends on everyone’s participation: compassion in heart, kindness in action.

About Guide Dogs Queensland
Guide Dogs Queensland is one of Australia’s largest and most trusted charities, with nearly 30 years of experience supporting children and adults who are blind or vision impaired. The Yong Foundation first became a sponsor of Guide Dogs Queensland in October 2016, with the hope of making a meaningful difference in the lives of local community members living with vision loss.

About Guide Dogs
Guide dogs are specially trained working and companion animals that assist people who are blind or vision impaired in navigating daily life independently. These highly skilled dogs empower their handlers to live more freely and confidently—helping them locate objects, board buses or trains, recognize when it’s safe to cross the street at green lights, and ultimately participate fully in society. For many, a guide dog is truly a “second pair of eyes”—restoring independence, dignity, and dreams.

The Yongs Commitment 2016

The Yong Foundation has become a sponsor of Guide Dogs Queensland for the first time, helping the visually impaired in the local community. Guide Dogs Queensland is one of Australia’s largest and most trusted charities, with a history of nearly 30 years helping adults and children with visual impairments.

Mr. Peter Huang, founder of the Yong Foundation, presented a donation of AUD 35,000 for the year to Aileen McGregor-Lowndes, Program Manager at Guide Dogs Queensland, on behalf of the foundation.

Guide Dogs are a special breed of assistance dogs—highly trained working and companion animals that help visually impaired individuals navigate their daily lives and achieve independence. They assist with tasks ranging from locating objects to boarding buses or trains, knowing when it is safe to cross the street, and ultimately participating in social activities alongside sighted individuals. A Guide Dog is often described as the “eyes” that the visually impaired have regained.

A trained Guide Dog, Barry

Guide Dogs are not born with the ability to assist the blind; they undergo extensive training before becoming qualified. The training process for a Guide Dog takes up to two years. The AUD 35,000 donated by the Yong Foundation will sponsor the training of a puppy to become a certified Guide Dog.

The Yong Group will soon host a naming event for the newly sponsored puppy, now known as the “Yong Puppy.” Moving forward, the foundation will closely monitor and participate in the training of the Yong Puppy, providing as much support as possible to help it become a qualified Guide Dog. Regular updates on the puppy’s training progress will be shared across the Yong Group’s social media platforms, and everyone is encouraged to stay tuned. All clients of the Yong Group and their families will also be invited to participate in various local events organized by Guide Dogs Queensland.

The Yong Foundation sincerely thanks Yong Real Estate and every client of the Yong Group, whose contributions have enabled the foundation to grow continuously and extend help to more people. Building a better era of public welfare requires c

ollective effort—compassion for others and kind acts for the benefit of society.
